The Responsive Literacy Education programs and certificates prepare transformative and innovative literacy leaders who are highly skilled to support and advocate for the literacy needs of diverse K-12 student populations. Students will draw on anti-bias, inclusive, and science of reading supported pedagogies to advance children’s learning in reading, writing and oral language skills, with specific emphasis in supporting multilingual learners. Graduates will be prepared to positively impact the students, families, schools, and communities they serve.
Literacy is more than just reading and writing. We see literacy as a way of being and interacting in schools, in the community, and in life. Teachers in the program will be challenged to envision their work as agents of change within healing centered literacy practices.
Our flexible online MA in Literacy Education accepts students every term (fall, spring, summer) and features personalized support for every student. Our program values creating a strong learning community of teachers from local, national, and international schools.
CU Denver is committed to putting highly qualified and equity-focused literacy leaders in schools and communities.
