If you feel passionate about elevating multilingual learning and inclusivity in your school and district, CU Denver’s MA in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education with a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) Endorsement K-12 will prepare you for a leadership role in your district.

A master’s degree is an opportunity for practicing, licensed teachers to deepen their knowledge and develop skills. The added endorsement gives you an additional credential in the field. We prepare highly competent professionals through high quality curriculum and hands-on projects that are relevant, empowering, applicable, student centered, challenging and focused on social justice. You also have an option of completing our Bilingual Education Specialist endorsement. Our faculty members help open doors to your dream position in education. You will learn to reflect on culture and how changing times and changing demographics impact teaching practices. You will learn to gather and use assessment results within a strengths-based framework to advocate for appropriate programming, placement, instruction, and ongoing progress monitoring of multilingual students. Our alumni are systems change advocates prepared to support inclusion of multiple languages in classrooms.

Courses

The MA in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education with a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) Endorsement, K-12 requires 30 credits.

Recommendations for endorsements are made by CU Denver’s Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education program; but the endorsement is granted by the State of Colorado. Individual state requirements vary and may include teaching experience and examinations in addition to a valid teaching credential. Students should consult with the Colorado Department of Education or another state in which they wish to be endorsed for the most updated endorsement requirements.

Application Deadlines

We practice "rolling admission" and after your application is complete, we strive to notify you of your admission status in no more than two to three weeks. The CLDE program only admits for summer and fall semesters.

The following deadlines are firm, early submissions are encouraged.

Fall Semester: June 30

Summer Semester: April 30

  • 2 recommendation letters
  • Official Transcripts from all institutions attended
  • If applying for an endorsement, proof of teaching license or special services license is required
  • Resume/CV
  • Written Statement: Describe your interest in the program, your special strengths, and the goals you hope to achieve through your work in the program
  • $50.00 application fee
  • International Applicants only: Proof of English Language Proficiency (International applicants should review the following information regarding English language proficiency)
  • Admissions Interview: An interview may be required as part of the admissions process. If so, applicants will be contacted with more details.
