Dr. Linda S. Bowman is a Clinical Professor in the CU Denver School of Education and Human Development and President Emerita of the Community College of Aurora. Bowman is one of the founding faculty for the Ed.D. in Leadership for Educational Equity in Higher Education. Her focus areas include leadership, administration, organizational cultures and structures, adjunct faculty, executive leadership development, and decision-making.
Dr. Bowman has served four colleges as president, in public and private, and in urban and rural settings. Additionally, Dr. Bowman has served as Vice President for the Colorado Community College System. As Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, she oversaw statewide two-year sector general education, statewide secondary and post-secondary career and technical education, and Colorado Community Colleges Online. Subsequently, she served as Vice President for Executive Leadership Training and Development, guiding the System strategic planning process, working with college presidents and their staff on leadership and problem-solving, and providing leadership development and coaching services statewide.
Dr. Bowman has also served as full-time and adjunct faculty at the University of Denver’s Morgridge College of Education, as adjunct faculty for the Colorado State University, and as a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Hong Kong.
Dr. Bowman has worked on statewide task forces and planning groups and on a number of key pieces of Colorado legislation, including statewide credit transfer and articulation, and concurrent high school/college credit and the Colorado ASCENT law.
Linda S. Bowman has been recognized with the Mile High Girl Scouts Woman of Distinction, Aurora Woman Sculptor of the Community, Honorary Co-command Chief for the 460th Space Wing, Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado Community Colleges State Student Advisory Council President of the Year, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Presidential Award of Distinction, U.S. Library of Congress Veterans History Project Appreciation Award, and Special Congressional Recognition.
From 2018-2020, Bowman served at CU Denver’s Interim Vice Provost/Senior Vice Chancellor for Student Success.
Dr. Bowman holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Masters in Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver, as well as a Masters degree in English, and a Bachelors degree in English and Spanish.
