I am a Canadian who came to working with people more directly in therapy after twenty years of community-based HIV work. During those twenty years I developed a keen understanding of the impact of various stressors such as minority stress and racial stressors, and the community factors that can affect our lives. As my clinical practice evolved, I was drawn to attachment-based, emotionally driven, and systemic approaches to working with people. This was a natural evolution from my community work where we drew on a range of health promotion and population health models for working with health and social justice challenges. My work with individuals, relationships, and families remains a part of my life as I continue in private practice. I train people in Emotionally Focused Therapy as the Director of the Colorado Center for EFT. My research explores various aspects of EFT and therapist learning and development.
