Doctor of Education in Leadership for Educational Equity, Justice, Equity, and Diverse Identities (JEDI)

Degree Earned: EdD This EdD concentration focuses on education for justice, equity and diverse identities (e.g., Latine, Black, AANAPI, LGBTQIA+, and dis/ability) and allows students to pursue research of interest that is adjacent to or within one of the above areas. The concentration area is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and resources to see opportunities in the range of complex challenges facing the education system and ground their approach in transdisciplinary and critical frameworks to advocate for educational equity and transformative, liberatory education.

Master of Arts in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (Endorsement)

Degree Earned: MA Endorsement Prepares educators to become advocates for multilingual learners in school districts by exploring the opportunities and challenges among Latinx students. Graduates help meet the need for leadership in Colorado and nationwide as the Latinx population grows and the achievement gap for students widens.

Undergraduate Certificate in Pathways2Teaching, Paraprofessional

Degree Earned: Undergraduate Certificate Strives to create a new generation of community-responsive educators as it begins the journey for high school juniors and seniors to become teachers. Students earn transferable college credits toward a teaching degree. The program helps meet the demand for teachers in urban and rural communities and address a lack of diversity in the teacher workforce.

Minor in Education Studies

Degree Earned: Minor CU Denver’s minor in Education Studies is useful across many disciplines and career paths. Undergraduate students explore cognition and learning theory, teaching methods, development across the life span, and working with culturally and linguistically diverse learners.

Degree Earned: MA Develops the knowledge, leadership skills, and classroom practices that support multilingual learners and their families. Graduates help meet the increasing need for knowledge and skills to design effective practices to serve the number of children who speak and learn in multiple languages.

Endorsement, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education

Degree Earned: Endorsement Designed for currently licensed teachers who are seeking career advancement and the knowledge and tools needed to support diverse languages, cultures, and abilities in the classroom. The endorsement is available with and without an MA.

Endorsement, Bilingual Education Specialist

Degree Earned: Endorsement Designed for currently licensed teachers seeking career advancement and the knowledge and tools needed to work in dual language and bilingual education programs. The 10-credit-hour program requires that teachers already have the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) endorsement or are working toward that endorsement in conjunction with the Bilingual Education Endorsement.

Graduate Certificate in Teaching for Cultural and Linguistic Diversity

Degree Earned: Graduate Certificate Provides content-area teachers (math, science, social studies, etc.) with a foundation of teaching content for multilingual students. The certificate is also valuable to content-area coaches or administrators with a commitment to diversity and social justice, and who provide support for teachers with multilingual learners in K - 12 classrooms.
