The Doctor of Education (EdD) in Leadership for Educational Equity with a concentration in STEM Education prepares educators and leaders to advance equity and innovation in STEM learning. The 54-credit program begins each summer. Although this is primarily an asynchronous online program, there will be valuable opportunities and expectations for synchronous engagement. The curriculum includes:
Courses expose students to interdisciplinary connections and applied research, emphasizing the translation of theory into practice. The EdD program is structured as a four-year track.
Most students in this cohort-based program are full-time professionals. The online format provides a flexible and accessible pathway to earning the EdD degree.
International students are welcome to join the program. Since the coursework is online, there is no support for students to study in the US.
EdD students culminate the program with a dissertation-in-practice, engaging with faculty and district and community partners to address real-world problems of practice and policy. Students work with authentic data to drive innovation and improvement in STEM education, benefiting from collaborative research and applied experiences that connect theory to practice.
Located in the heart of a thriving urban setting, CU Denver fosters a diverse university community. The program partners with urban schools and community organizations, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to serve culturally diverse and underrepresented learners. Many faculty members bring multilingual and cross-cultural expertise, further enhancing students' ability to lead in diverse educational settings.
