The PhD in Inclusive Early Childhood Education concentration prepares candidates to be faculty members, researchers, and leaders. This program prepares scholars to define problems and conduct research that informs curriculum and policies aimed at promoting child- and family-centered early childhood education. This is with a focus on educating children across races, ethnicities, abilities, and languages. To do so, coursework is grounded in theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches.

As part of course requirements, you will learn how to design and conduct a dissertation study.

The Inclusive Early Childhood Education PhD Concentration will be accepting two to three new students for the 2025-26 academic year who have specific research interests in the development and learning of dual language Latinx learners, the preparation of Latine early childhood educators, Latinx parents’ beliefs and practices about supporting their children’s learning, and/or home-school partnerships with Latinx families. ECE Educator Scholarships, administered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education in collaboration with Colorado Department of Early Childhood, are designed for early childhood education students living in Colorado who are pursuing dedicated coursework, certificates and degrees up to a master’s degree. Awards vary dependent upon credit hours of enrollment and program. All eligible students receive some funding.
