Some certificates may only be available to teachers in particular districts or CU Denver master's students in certain degree programs as noted. Applicants include classroom teachers seeking expanded instructional and leadership roles and teacher-librarians. While coursework aligns with Colorado Department of Education expectations for school library endorsement, the program is fully online and open to learners nationwide and globally. Because the program is delivered entirely online, participants join the program from across Colorado, the United States, and around the world.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution. Faculty advising support is available for all applicants including non-Colorado and international applicants.
If you are not a resident of the state of Colorado and are only taking online courses as a certificate or non-degree student, your tuition will be billed at the non-resident rate. Find details here.
The certificate will appear on the student's transcript upon successful completion of the course unless the student is already enrolled in an SEHD degree program. If a student is currently enrolled in an SEHD degree program and is taking certificate courses, the certificate will appear on the student's transcript if no more than 3 credit hours are used to meet degree requirements. Our nationally and internationally recognized certificates are exceptions to this policy, this includes the certificate for Applied Behavior Analysis.
Students must have a grade of C or better in all classes applied toward their certificate and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (B average) or higher for the certificate to be transcribed. Particular district-related certificates require a grade of B or better for certificate transcription. In some cases, courses with a grade of C may not count toward a master's degree, depending on specific degree program requirements.
