Rachel Stein, PhD. is an Assistant Professor in the School Psychology doctoral program in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver. Prior to joining the university, she was a Harris Fellow in infant and early childhood mental health. She is a Licensed Psychologist, credentialed school psychologist and nationally certified school psychologist. Her primary research interests include helping young children thrive through prevention and intervention to support mental health, early identification of mental health needs, addressing young children’s challenging behaviors, supporting parents with young children, and early childhood workforce development. Across all her projects, Dr. Stein partners closely with community organizations and stakeholders to ensure that the knowledge created is useful, practical, and meaningful for children, families, and the professionals who serve them.

Research
My scholarly work focuses on prevention and intervention to support mental health, specifically in early childhood. As a scholar, I am interested in infant and early childhood mental health, including how to leverage existing systems to support mental health and the role of school psychologists in supporting early childhood mental health.
