Valerie Sherman joined the School of Education and Human Development as Director of The Partnership for Rural Educator Preparation Pathways (T-PREP) in 2021 from the Colorado Center for Rural Education at the University of Northern Colorado, where she served as the Center’s rural education coordinator.

Dr. Sherman brings more than 15 years experience in education to CU Denver, working as a 4th grade elementary classroom teacher, reading specialist and literacy coach, and teacher educator at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her expertise is in rural educator pathways, literacy, and multi-tiered system of supports.

Valerie’s hobbies include spoiling one of the Sherman dogs, walking, and laughing. She also enjoys exploring and traveling with her husband, Scott.
