Elena Sandoval-Lucero is an Assistant Teaching Professor for the EdD in Leadership for Educational Equity and the MA in Leadership for Educational Organizations.
Elena has 40 years of experience in higher education. Her career focused on various enrollment management roles, including admissions, financial aid, federal TRiO programs, advising, and orientation. She held senior leadership roles at community colleges for ten years. She has led Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) work, strategic planning efforts, and developed strategic enrollment management plans for multiple institutions.
Elena has been involved with NASPA Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education for twenty years. She served on the Latinx/o/a Taskforce, the Community College Division Board, and the Advisory Services Council. She was a member of the editorial board for two of their publications, the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice and the Journal of College and Character. She has also contributed to various blogs and Leadership Exchange, another NASPA publication. She has received several of the association’s awards.
Elena holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and Innovation and an MA in Administration, Supervision, and Curriculum Development from the University of Colorado Denver. She earned a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado.
