Dr. Cindy Gutierrez is the founding director of the Office of Partnerships in the School of Education & Human Development and leads the design and implementation of innovative clinical experiences across all teacher education pathways. She facilitates the CU Denver Professional Development School (PDS) Network, established in 1993 in partnership with both urban and rural districts across the state and also supports the work of a robust network of community-based organizations partnering with CU Denver. All of SEHD’s partnership work is focused on simultaneous renewal of both schools, organizations and teacher education as partners work side by side to develop and deepen their practice to meet the ever-changing needs of diverse youth, schools, and communities. Teacher candidates prepared in this unique partnership model become part of a community that supports them to grow and develop their talents to be compassionate, responsive teachers who will make a significant impact. Dr. Gutierrez’ research focuses on clinically centered preparation through customized partnerships for diverse teacher education.
