Our Impact

Partnerships at the School of Education and Human Development

STEM Mentor

Associated Faculty: Dennis DeBay
External Partners: MESA School, Arvada High, Carmody Middle, Skinner Middle, North High, Hinkley High, Aurora Central
Focus: Educator preparation
About the Partnership: This partnership involves traveling to approximately 6 Middle and Secondary schools  to support our STEM students in the field with help on lesson planning, connecting the field and SEHD. There will be a total of 15 students in 1/2 internships as well as a 3rd internship. The most essential element of this work is that all of the students that are in STEM 4/5001 in the summer will not be prepared for PLA 2 during the fall internship time. The partnership has resulted in creating 4 separate times to meet during the fall while they are in their internships to prepare for the PLA so that they are given the same support as  the students taking Planning to Learn in the Fall. The partnership also involves building an online version to help them think through their internships.
