    Facilitator

Kate Schamu joined The School of Education & Human Development in 2018 as an Alternative Licensure Instructor with the ASPIRE to Teach Program.

Schamu spent eight years living in Costa Rica where she became a classroom teacher and obtained a Master's in International Teaching. Fully immersed in a new culture, Schamu deeply valued teaching emergent bilinguals while learning Spanish herself. In 2016, Schamu returned to Colorado where she spent two more years teaching in Denver Public Schools and Littleton Public Schools and obtained her Colorado Teaching License in Elementary K-6.

With a passion for language, culture, and food, Schamu thoroughly enjoys traveling with her husband and son. Perhaps their favorite destination is a quaint waterfall just outside of her husband's hometown in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
