Jun 7, 2023NACCTEP Announces New Executive Board Members
NACCTEP, the National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs, is pleased to announce three new executive board members. Recently elected as Members-at-Large are Dr. Floyd H. Hardin III and Ms. Laurette Scott. Accepting the appointment to serve as University Representative is Dr. Marvin Lynn.
Ms. Scott has been elected to a full, two-year term after finishing out the Member-at-Large vacancy left when Dr. R. Lennon Audrain was elected President in 2022. She began her career as a traditionally licensed secondary English teacher and has spent the last twenty years at Clackamas Community College as Education faculty. During that time Ms. Scott has served as department chair, faculty association president and has led professional learning communities. She has assisted in the development of statewide transfer maps between community colleges and universities and developed the first community college Educator Preparation Program in Oregon to be recognized by the state licensing board.
Dr. Hardin has been newly elected to the executive board for a two-year term as Member-at-Large. He serves as the Executive Officer of Equity and College Relations at Rio Salado College, encompassing the responsibilities of Chief of Staff and Chief Diversity Officer. Dr. Hardin’s previous role with the college was as Senior Officer of Outreach, Inclusion, and Strategic Partnerships where he operated as the institution’s primary contact. In this role he triaged national partnership opportunities, vetting and implementing educational transfer partners to support college-university transfer pathways and augmenting college revenue streams by standing-up B2B partnerships to support developmental goals and financial growth targets. Dr. Hardin has more than 15 years as a social justice scholar and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) practitioner.
Dr. Marvin Lynn, Dean of the School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) at the University of Colorado Denver, has enjoyed a robust career as a teacher, equity scholar, and public university administrator. Before his arrival at CU Denver in June of 2022, he served as dean and professor of education at Portland State University as well as Dean and associate dean at public universities in the Midwest. In these leadership roles, Dean Lynn has worked to solidify and strengthen relationships with community colleges to advance teacher education.
Dean Lynn’s research focuses on race, education, the work and lives of Black male educators, and best practices for advancing teacher diversity in the United States. He is one of the most highly cited researchers in the area of educational equity. Currently he serves on the boards of the Carnegie Project for the Education Doctorate (CPED) and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) where he also serves as a member of the Executive Board in the role of Secretary.
Please join us in welcoming these new board members for the July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025 term.
