Graduate Student Orientation

Welcome to the School of Education & Human Development!

Academic Advisors and Faculty Advisors

New students are assigned an academic advisor and faculty advisor/mentor. For an explanation of the difference between the two please see this document.

  • Academic advisors are professional staff who assist students with program-specific advising needs, including registration, transfer credit, policies, and procedures. To schedule an in-person, phone, or Zoom video conferencing appointment, please contact your academic advisor directly
  • Faculty advisors/mentors are professors who can assist students with academic and career-related issues
    • You should meet with your faculty advisor at least once a year
    • See your SEHD admissions letter for the name of your Faculty Advisor

Catalog and Handbooks

The course catalog provides the information you need as a CU Denver student.  In the current catalog, choose the Graduate Catalog.

The School of Education & Human Development has a general Student Policy Handbook for all MA, EdS, and Graduate Licensure, Endorsement, and Certificate students. In addition, each program of study has a program-specific student handbook. Please review both handbooks prior to beginning coursework! To find your program handbook and course requirements, go to the Graduate Student Resources page and click on the drop down menu under Program Specific Resources. Save a copy of your program handbooks for future reference!
