Dr. Rod L. Blunck is a career educator with more than 2 decades in public education. He is a native of Nebraska and attended grade school and high school in Plainview, Nebraska. He earned his bachelors degree at Wayne State College, his Masters degree at Colorado State University and his doctorate through Southeastern University. Dr. Blunck’s lifetime commitment to public education includes teaching and administrative positions in the Denver Public Schools and graduate school teaching appointments at the University of Phoenix and Adams State College as well as consulting roles in program evaluation and management of educational projects. He was appointed Superintendent of Schools of the School District 27J in May of 2006 following years of service to the Elizabeth C-1 School District as Superintendent of Schools, Adams 12 Five Star School District as Assistant Superintendent of Business Services and the Julesburg School District as Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Blunck’s teaching experience was that of a special education teacher specializing in emotionally disturbed students.
In 2006, Dr. Blunck was awarded the Colorado Superintendent of the Year distinction for the fiscal recovery of the Elizabeth C-1 School District. Dr. Blunck has also been recognized for organizational excellence by the Colorado Performance Excellence Organization and is featured as a keynote speaker in their 2006 state-wide conference. Dr. Blunck’s leadership was instrumental in propelling the Elizabeth C-1 School District to receive state and national recognition for exemplary models of accountability, technology implementation and collaborative partnerships with private sector and higher education. In 2005, the Elizabeth C-1 School District receives the State Treasurer’s highest award for the fiscal integrity of their budget and the transparency of their budgeting process.
